neuro-affirming workplaces training

Inclusive, safe, and accessible workplaces are crucial for promoting the health and wellbeing of employees, especially for neurodivergent individuals.

Everyone should feel they can be themselves in the workplace, and we can always learn and do more to foster psychological safety in the environments where we spend our time. By learning about what ADHD, Autism and the many other neurodivergent flavours, we can better support and include people with all types of brains, and organisations can create a culture that embraces all employees.

why is this important?

  • Post-pandemic, only 46% of workers felt their teams were inclusive, a decrease from previous years.

  • Non-inclusive teams increased to 19% in 2023 from 11% pre-pandemic.

  • Two-thirds of workers reported an inclusive organisational climate, but a rise in non-inclusive managers was noted.

  • Discrimination and harassment increased, with nearly 1 in 3 workers experiencing such issues, particularly among marginalised workers.

  • Workers feel less connected post-pandemic, with a decline in experiencing belonging and acceptance. An estimated 1 in 3 of Australians reported feeling lonely.

  • Ability to contribute to work discussions also decreased, despite increased communication tools.

  • Younger men’s support for D&I is on the decline. 75% of those who take their own life are male (Lifeline Australia, n.d.).

  • Format:

    • The first hour is theory - what is Neurodiversity? Why is it important to know about it in the workplace? We look specifically at ADHD, Autism, and touch on Dyslexia.

    • The second hour is practical – reasonable adjustments, sensory and environmental accomodations and inclusive practice.

    • A recording is provided, and a seriously detailed “Book of Reasonable Workplace Adjustments” resource

    Fee: $220 inc GST p/person

  • I research, design and deliver bespoke trainings that cover:

    • Education around neurodiversity, the expressions of neurodivergence, with particular focus on Autism Spectrum, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia/DCD and Dyscalculia.

    • Uncover the characteristics and strengths associated with these brain differences across communication styles, thinking patterns, problem-solving approaches, sensory considerations, and social challenges.

    • Explore how workplaces can create reasonable allowances and adjustments policies, provide access to lived experience neurodivergent supervision, and set up communities of practice that champion organisational psychological safety and inclusivity.

    • Considerations around workspaces and environmental factors, and ways of working that reduce sensory overload.

With consultation from those with lived experience (neurodivergent employees), organisations can collaboratively explore ways to support a neuro-inclusive workforce, building a culture of understanding and flexibility where all employees can thrive.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

“I recently had the opportunity to engage Caz’s service for her to deliver two training sessions on Neurodiversity in the Workplace, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Caz did an outstanding job of creating an engaging and inclusive environment where everyone felt comfortable participating and sharing their thoughts (there were some beautiful moments).

The sessions were not only well-attended but also full of valuable information. Caz encouraged openness and vulnerability, allowing participants to share personal experiences, ideas, and concerns. Her ability to guide these conversations with empathy and insight really stood out to me, making the topic of neurodiversity both accessible and thought-provoking.

What I appreciated most was Caz's emphasis on keeping the conversation going beyond the sessions. It’s clear she’s passionate about fostering a culture of ongoing learning and improvement, and she provided plenty of resources to help us continue exploring the topic.

Additionally, Caz was mindful of the emotional impact these discussions can have and made sure participants knew support was available, which I thought was a thoughtful touch. Clearly, a lot of care and thought went into what Caz delivered.

Overall, Caz’s facilitation was exceptional, and I feel better equipped to contribute to a more neuroinclusive workplace.

Thank you, Caz, for leading such an impactful and enlightening training experience!”

With a team of over 30 people, I want to be able to offer my staff a secure and inclusive workplace with a safe and enjoyable environment that prioritises mental wellbeing.

We engaged Caz to run a Neurodiversity in the Workplace training with our entire team. The feedback and response throughout the company was amazing. My staff said they felt heard, cared about and supported, with some of my team feeling safe enough to disclose their own neurodivergence, and that some of our people are actually carers for neurodivergent children with high support needs. This realisation was profound for me and the team, which has brought us closer. Caz’s delivery was personal but professional, informative without being invasive, and delivered in a way that engaged everyone in the room by sharing some of her own lived experience as a neurodivergent person.

As a business owner, I felt proud that I could provide this session to my team. I learnt so much myself and have already implemented changes that will help build a workplace I can be proud of. If you have a small team, or a large team.. I couldn’t recommend Caz highly enough”
